A Mexican Fire Opal's value is based upon its color. While usually a vibrant orange, higher end stones exhibit more red while lower end stones more yellow. Some are cut as faceted stones, others are cut as cabochons.
Mexican Fire Opals, like all opals, are softer stones that have a hardness rating between 5 to 6.5. Their color makes them an attractive choice for your class ring but we don't recommend rings with Mexican Fire Opals for daily wear.
